Suraksha - Training on Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights

“Suraksha" was organized to promote Sexual &
Reproductive Health Rights in collaboration with the Youth Advocacy Network Sri Lanka (YANSL), where the participants were provided with adequate sex education in both theoretical and practical perspectives. This was conducted for the undergraduates of the University of Colombo and was open to all Rotaractors for participation.
The main objective of this project was to provide a comprehensive and holistic training to all participants to face prevalent issues pertaining to sexual health and rights, and to spread the message on serious social
concerns such as gender, consent, gender based violence, contraception and awareness on sexually transmitted diseases and infections.

The project was planned with the consultation of the Youth Advocacy Network of Sri Lanka who decided on the schedule and content of the programme. Posters regarding the project were shared through social
media among undergraduates of University of Colombo, and Rotaractors of other clubs. The project was booked in the Rotaract Calendar as a signature project, and its details shared with the Council members via email.
The workshop was divided into morning and afternoon sessions, and was planned to be conducted from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm in order to give all participants a thorough learning experience. Group activities, participative and responsive sessions were conducted to increase the input given to the workshop by those
who attended it.

Overall, this project was instrumental in training the participants on how to face, manage and spread the message on serious social concerns such as gender, consent, gender based violence, contraception and
many more.
