#Girl Warrior

Celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child, the Club took on a different role this year. Promoting awareness on various social media platforms, we invited members of the University to take a photo promoting girl power using the hashtag #GirlWarrior and post it on social media.

This year's theme was "With Her: A Skilled Girl Force". It focused on different issues faced by the girl child in the world today. Rapidly expand access to inclusive education and training, change gender stereotypes, social norms and unconscious bias to provide girls with the same learning and career opportunities as boys, enable access to finance and enterprise for female entrepreneurs etc. were a few of the issues we focused on.

Getting an unprecedented amount of attention from the general public, this project was successful in serving its purpose. The end result was a video compilation of all the messages given by the participants and this will be used in our girl child based community service projects.

This project stood up to the theme of our Club this year which is "Innovate.Serve.Empower". It was indeed an innovative idea with the goal to conduct more community service based projects addressing the marginalisation and empowering the girl child.
