Annual Club Trip - Ella

The annual club trip of the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Law of University of Colombo was held on the 27th and 28th of October and it was organized with the main objective of bringing the Club members together and increasing their fellowship. It was an excursion to scenic Ella, and many Club members joined this journey in order to build bonds of fellowship and goodwill.
After the general notification on the trip was provided to the members, a Google form was circulated in order to collect their details, and a van was arranged for transportation, and lodgings were arranged for, in the Summer Hill Resort of Ella. Accordingly, the budget was planned including the expenses that would be incurred which included food, travelling and accommodation cost. As per the budgeted expenses the required amount to cover up the relevant cost was collected from the participants and then, the trip details and itinerary were also circulated.
Many scenic locations in Ella, such as the Mini Adams’ Peak, the Nine Arches Bridge and Rawana falls were explored in this trip and the participants had a great two days filled with fun, adventure and laughter enjoying the beauty of nature trekking and hiking the mountains of Ella.
The project was highly instrumental in bringing close all the club members together; which in the denouement, proved to be a decisive factor in conducting a plethora of projects with huge success throughout this Rotaract year.

On 26th of May 2019 early morning we headed to Rakwana, Heatherleigh Estate to initiate the second phase of our signature project on 'Women Empowerment'. Matha: Awareness on Post-partum Depression

Leading up to the birth of a child, everyone prepares expectant mothers for it. One thing they don’t prepare them for is Post-partum Depression. Therefore, we took it upon ourselves to do so. While it is a completely common phenomenon, it is rarely discussed in the common context. The stigma surrounding mental health can be seen as the main reason for this. The Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Law University of Colombo and the Rotary Club of Colombo East together with the Arka Initiative conducted a workshop for expectant mothers and the staff at the Kethumathi Maternity Hospital in Panadura. GreeNation: The Firstever Rotaract Rainforest

Transcending stereotypical notions, the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo ventured to launch Project GreeNation with the intention of growing and maintaining the first ever Rotaract Rainforest in the country. GreeNation was not a mere tree-planting project; rather it looked at growing a rainforest over one acre of land in Rakwana and maintaining it until the ecosystem could survive on its own. GreeNation aims to produce enough pure air for over 1000 people to consume and is a step that is assured to sustain for generations while becoming a home for animal life.
