Pack it Up, joint initiative of the Rotaract Clubs of Faculty of Law of University of Colombo,
Battaramulla and Katugastota Region was an enjoyable hiking excursion to Uragala Rock of the Hanthana mountain range followed by a bonfire and a camping night at the Dome Hanthana Camping Site. The project happened on 1st & 2nd of December 2018 and it was enthusiastically attended by members of the clubs as well as other Rotaractors.

Planning of the project consisted of deciding a suitable venue for hiking, and the arrangement of facilities such as food, transportation, tents and sanitary requirements. Furthermore, the guidance of experienced mountaineers was consulted to provide a safe and enjoyable hike in the mountains. A google form was circulated among Rotaractors with the details of the camping trip two weeks prior to the project, posts were shared on all social media platforms of the club, and the members of the District Council were notified via email on the procedure for registration and a reasonable amount was collected by the participants to cover up the expenses incurred.

The hike at the Uragala Rock was conducted with the guidance of a highly experienced guide and all the Rotaractors safely made it back to the camping site after an adventurous journey and got together for the bonfire and the BBQ night where all of them had an entertaining night singing and dancing their hearts out. The night was spent under the tents and the journey concluded the following day with all the participants returning back to their homes with loads of memories.

The main outcome of this project was the successful conclusion of an enjoyable trip and the lasting memories made among participants. Furthermore, it helped to enjoy a stress free weekend hiking and enjoying and to enhance member participation and retention, through the creation of friendships among Rotaractors of various clubs and also with non- Rotaractors.

On 26th of May 2019 early morning we headed to Rakwana, Heatherleigh Estate to initiate the second phase of our signature project on 'Women Empowerment'. Matha: Awareness on Post-partum Depression

Leading up to the birth of a child, everyone prepares expectant mothers for it. One thing they don’t prepare them for is Post-partum Depression. Therefore, we took it upon ourselves to do so. While it is a completely common phenomenon, it is rarely discussed in the common context. The stigma surrounding mental health can be seen as the main reason for this. The Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Law University of Colombo and the Rotary Club of Colombo East together with the Arka Initiative conducted a workshop for expectant mothers and the staff at the Kethumathi Maternity Hospital in Panadura. GreeNation: The Firstever Rotaract Rainforest

Transcending stereotypical notions, the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo ventured to launch Project GreeNation with the intention of growing and maintaining the first ever Rotaract Rainforest in the country. GreeNation was not a mere tree-planting project; rather it looked at growing a rainforest over one acre of land in Rakwana and maintaining it until the ecosystem could survive on its own. GreeNation aims to produce enough pure air for over 1000 people to consume and is a step that is assured to sustain for generations while becoming a home for animal life.
