Staying true to the Rotaract theme of this year; 'Engage Rotaract, Redefine Friendship', the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Law, University of Colombo organized an Avurudu Celebration in Chunnakam, Jaffna, together with the Rotaract Clubs of Katugasthota and Chunnakam. The project featured a train ride from Colombo to Jaffna and a visit around the beautiful city of Jaffna to bring about unity through cultural diversity. It was the first ever project organized by three clubs from three different provinces.

As it involved three clubs the project was planned over the course of four months and regular meetings were held in order to ensure that this project became a success. The Rotaract Club of Chunnakam joined them through Skype and was extremely hospitable by providing accommodation and travel facilities to the Rotaractors in Jaffna.

The train ride from Colombo to Jaffna and back was a beautiful experience for all those who participated, the cultural shift along the way was a new experience for all. By the visit to the Nallur Kovil of Jaffna and eating the classic Rio Icecream, participants were able to enjoy Jaffna to the fullest and to interact with the Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of Chunnakam. There was also a visit to the stunning fort of Jaffna.

The highlight of the project was the Avurudu festival held in Chunnakam where all participants were divided into teams to take part in the awurudu games. It was a great opportunity as everyone was able to build friendship amongst each other and to work as a team in unity. The project was a unison of both Sinhala and Tamil cultures and traditions and organizers believe how it is the best way to promote harmony and unity between two cultures.
