World Rotaract Week 2017
Every year, Rotaractors around the world celebrate World Rotaract Week during the week of 13th March in honour of the chartering of the first club in 1968. World Rotaract week marks a time to celebrate the success and importance of the Rotaract program. It also provides an opportunity for Rotaractors to inform friends and members of the society about the amazing work Rotaract clubs do and to give them a chance to get involved.
Rotaract clubs evolved quickly in its short but dynamic history and have now come together to form one of the largest youth organizations in the world with around 175,000 members in about 7500 clubs in 156 countries. The purpose of the Rotaract program is to provide an opportunity for young men and women between the ages of 18 and 30 to enhance the skills needed for personality and professional development, to address the needs of the community and to promote better relations between people through a framework of friendship and service.
The Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo has since its inception contributed immensely to the welfare of the community through its projects. Furthermore the club has been able to work alongside fellow Rotaract clubs in order to serve society. Therefore it is with great pride that we celebrate World Rotaract Week as it marks the founding of the Rotaract program which has enabled all of us to come together to make the world a better place.
