"Drops of Hope" Annual Blood Donation Camp

‘When it comes to mankind and saving lives, nothing can be better than donating blood.’

Having recognized the significance of sharing humanity through donating blood, ‘Drops of Hope’, Annual Blood Donation Camp of Rotaract Club of Faculty of Law, University of Colombo was successfully held in association with National Blood Bank of Sri Lanka on 9th of December 2015 at the Ceylon hall of Faculty of Law.

With an eye to encourage people to donate blood as well as to enumerate momentous benefits of it, promotions for the project were creatively done through both social media and poster campaigns. Accordingly, the camp received an excellent response as 90 volunteers including Rotaractors from 9 Rotaract clubs and undergraduates of many faculties of the University of Colombo had been registered for this pragmatic event. Donors went through a series of medical checkups especially for blood pressure and hemoglobin tests before donating blood. Further, they were given refreshments. We had a colossal collection of 60 blood units including many first-time donors.

Therefore, the camp generated awareness of sharing noble kindness amongst human beings while collecting blood from enthusiastic donors. We enormously appreciate donors for their generous gift of time and for becoming a valuable character of the small percentage of amazing world donors. Besides, the compassion and commitment of rotaractors of Faculty of Law in organizing the event must be awarded the sincere gratitude.
